Jan. 31 Grub N Gab Toastmasters Recap

Congratulations to Caroline, who shared with us she is expecting a baby!

Our theme this week was Chinese New Year.  2017 is the Year of the Rooster.  People born in the year of the rooster tend to be quick-minded and punctual.  They make great teachers and first responders.  An interesting fact shared is that oranges are considered lucky.  Single women once wrote their phone number on oranges, then threw them into the river. Men would collect the oranges and determine if they would be a good match based on the sweetness of the orange.

Tien provided a speech from the Leadership Excellence Series, Giving Effective Feedback.  It’s important that we set clear and concise objectives, observe team member’s performance, provide immediate feedback and recognize positive performance.  Tien did an excellent job is personalizing the presentation and recognizing our member’s outstanding performances.

During the Table Topics portion of our meeting, we discussed Spring cleaning, Spring traditions and the importance of time with extended family.
