Travel Tips was the theme for our club meeting held on July 18. Our club President started the meeting and gave control to Heather Menchine who took the Toastmaster role the day before! Heather has planned a three week trip to Europe with her family and shared great tips about travel.
She provided tips on how efficiently you can pack your bags and calling your banks/credit card companies in advance of your travel. She also shared that her son, who is just 14, traveled alone to North Carolina. Heather guided him to avoid interacting with suspicious people and how to avoid pick pocketers.
Nady Mettias, our first speaker, delivered his Ice Breaker speech. Although, Nady looked fully confident in his speech and he was no doubt pretty witty which took everyone’s attention during his speech. Nady introduced his family and shared about his personal and professional background.
Deb Evans, our second speaker, discussed “How Effective is Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace.” She started off by asking everyone who is aware of Emotional Quotient, connecting immediately with everyone and give good information about the same. She also compared Emotional vs Intelligence quotient. Deb ended her speech by a beautiful quote by Amaya Angelou.
We had fun Table Topics session, conducted by Shirin, who asked questions related to our travel. Our guest John won the ribbon for best Table Topics as he shared his experience of quickly learning Thai language when he traveled down there on his honeymoon.
WOD was Trot and most members were able to use the WOD, trotting around the room. 🙂
Best speaker was awarded to Nady
Best evaluator was Annalisa, who evaluated Deb.
Overall, everyone participated in our fun meeting this week. We finished on time despite initial logistics issues in the beginning.
