Grub N Gab Toastmasters Nov. 21 Recap

This week, we had four guests (Sergio, Jorian, Leo and Katrina) attend our meeting.  Rosemary, a first-time Toastmaster, inspired us with her coming adventure of taking “Road Trips” during her Thanksgiving holiday.  She did a great job facilitating the meeting!  Jeannie shared tips and ideas on “How to be More Creative and More Productive” through her ‘Body Speaks’ speech, describing distraction is the biggest threat to productivity.  Did you know that each time we get distracted, it takes 23 minutes for our brains to get back to their normal mode?  For this reason, setting aside 90 minutes of quiet, undistracted time to focus on an important task each day, can help us achieve better productivity.  Meanwhile, Alex shared his hobby and passion for treasure hunting, through his How to Say It speech “Is There Still Buried Treasure?”.  He hopes one day to discover gold coins and/or an engagement ring in the parks or at the beach.  Jeannie also stepped up to spearhead the Table Topic segment, having Sam, Leo, and Julie share their favorite and weirdest road trip experiences.  Saurabh and Julie gave detail and constructive feedback to Jeannie and Alex for their speeches.  We had a fun and successful meeting, where Jeannie, Julie and Sam took home the blue ribbon awards.

We hope you had a happy Thanksgiving! Let’s us be thankful and cherish what we have today.  See you all next week!
