This week’s theme “Christmas,” came just in time for the fast approaching holiday. Shirin, our Toastmaster, enriched us with the legend of Santa Claus and Rudolph Reindeer. Believe it or not, Santa Claus was created by the New York Historical Society and appeared in the United States in 1804. Rudolph Reindeer, however, was not chosen to be Santa’s helper until the 1930’s.
We had two guests (Shawn and Julio) and three awesome speakers. Sapna won the Best Speaker Award with her Your Body Speak speech, sharing her pet peeves on “Strange Traditions” and cooking shows. Bidhan’s touching story using a Window as a parable of life. He encourages us to have an open mind, continue learning new things, and live a meaningful life. Shefali’s humorous speech, Kids Just Say It, was a personal story of her niece and nephew. It described children’s honesty, innocence and imaginative mind.
Alex brought home the Best Evaluator Ribbon offering supportive and constructive feedback to Bidhan’s speech.
Thanks everyone for a fun and lively meeting. Wishing you a happy holiday season and a healthy, joyful 2018!
Our next meeting will be Jan. 2.
