Grub N Gab Toastmasters Jan. 9 Recap

Our theme this week was ice, appropriate for the cold rainy day we had.

Sam delivered speech three from the Entertaining Speaker Series, “You can’t judge a book by its cover.”  Sam shared that his son called him a cheapskate because he has driven the same Honda Civic for the last 24 years.  Although, Sam considers himself rich, he estimates that he has saved over $100,000 by not continually buying new cars.  The car also holds special memories, such as the first kiss with his wife.

Bianca, a first time Table Topics Master did an excellent job.  The questions centered around Vanilla Ice.  Shirin shared that her bother sang “We Are Family” when Australia’s immigration suggested he find a custodian for his sister.  We also discussed our favorite songs, our favorite movies and the song that ends the party for us.  Tien also provided a special rap for us!

Our club speech contest will be held on Jan. 30.  We will host an International Speech Contest and Evaluation contest.  The winners will represent us at the Area Contest on Feb. 10.  More information to come.
